Harry Kane And Wife Katie Welcome ‘Beautiful Baby Boy’

Image
England captain Harry Kane and his wife Katie have welcomed a son to their family, confirming Louis Harry Kane arrived on Tuesday, December 29. The 27-year-old announced the news on his Instagram alongside a photo of him and Katie holding the newborn, who was dressed in baby blue. Kane said he ‘couldn’t be more proud’ of his wife following the labour and called the arrival of their first son a ‘special way to finish the year’. Childhood sweethearts Harry and Katie already share two young daughters together Ivy, 3, and Vivienne, 1, as well as dogs Brady and Wilson. Jamie Redknapp was one of the first to congratulate the Spurs star on his new arrival, as well as his England teammate Jack Grealish and Spurs legend Robbie Keane. It was the second time Katie had opted for the mindful birthing practice as she previously ‘had the most amazing water birth’ during her daughter Ivy’s delivery in January 2017. Former Man Utd Manager Tommy Docherty Dies Aged 92

Image
Former Manchester United and Scotland manager Tommy Docherty has died at the age of 92 following a long illness, according to his family. ‘The Doc’, as he was known, spent nine years playing for Preston and claimed 25 caps for Scotland, before moving into management. His most memorable spell came at United, where he lasted five years in charge and claimed the FA Cup after beating Bob Paisley’s Liverpool in the 1977 final. He also managed Chelsea, Aston Villa and Derby. Docherty died at his home in the north west on December 31. A family spokesperson said in a statement released to the Press Association: “Tommy passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home. “He was a much-loved husband, father and papa and will be terribly missed. “We ask that our privacy be respected at this time. There will be no further comment.” SEE ALSO |  Three Times Premier League Winner Shot Dead At Funeral This post was first published on GoalBall .

FA Hand Edinson Cavani Three-Game Ban For Offensive Instagram Post

Image
The FA has banned Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani for three matches and has handed a fine of £100,000 to the Uruguayan over a social media post considered offensive in some contexts. And the Manchester United forward will also be required to undergo face-to-face education after admitting a charge for a breach of FA Rule E3. A statement from United supported their player, and read: “Edinson wasn’t aware that his words could have been misconstrued and he sincerely apologised for the post and to anyone who was offended. “Despite his honest belief that he was simply sending an affectionate thank you in response to a congratulatory message from a close friend, he chose not to contest the charge out of respect for, and solidarity with, The FA and the fight against racism in football. “While it is clear context + intent key factors, note that the independent Regulatory Commission required to impose a min 3 game suspension. “The Club trusts Commission will make it clear in writ...

Solskjaer Dealt Fixture Pile-Up Blow In January After Burnley Rearrangement

Image
The Burnley fixture against Manchester United has now been confirmed to take place on Tuesday 12 January at 8.15pm by the Premier League. And it means Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his men may be stretched to the limits as they play at least twice a week until February. This is because United are still involved in Carabao Cup action, with their semi-final against rivals Manchester City going ahead on Wednesday January 6. They are also in FA Cup 3rd Round action three days after that when they host Championship side Watford. And if they progress they will be due to play the next round before the end of the month. Those games, along with the six Premier League matches in the calendar, means Solskjaer may be left with no choice but to heavily rotate his squad in the coming weeks. City’s fixture against Aston Villa meanwhile has now been rescheduled to Wednesday January 20 at 8.15pm, and they will also play nine times in the month if they beat Birmingham in the FA Cup. And at some point...

'He's already at the top': Bruno Fernandes told to ignore potential offers from elsewhere

Image
This is according to former Novara sporting director Cristiano Giaretta who brought Fernandes to Italy in 2012. The man who handed Bruno his first professional contract believes that Man United are the 'pinnacle of a career'. Speaking to Calcio Mercato, Cristiano Giaretta said: "It almost goes without saying that Bruno Fernandes would be fine with Real Madrid, Barcelona or Juventus. The truth is he could go anywhere. "But in my opinion, he's already at the top. Personally, I believe that Manchester United and the Premier League are the pinnacle of a career, a point of arrival, not of passage. He will make his choices, he is an intelligent boy. "He will know what is best for him. I hear from him often, even a couple of times a week. I can say that he is the same guy I met at Boavista, with a great personality, with the same desire to work to become the best." Playing for Man United has been a life-long dream for Bruno with the Portuguese snubbing an off...

Cascarino: Werner is just like Michael Owen he can't play forward alone

Image
Cascarino says that Werner is used to playing off a big striker, much like Michael Owen. Werner is pacy but does not have a great touch, feels Cascarino. The former Blue suggests that Werner has to play off a striker on the left side. However, Pulisic is Chelsea's best left-winger, Cascarino states. "It’s a tricky one, because I’ve seen a lot of Werner and when he was at Leipzig he played alongside Poulsen who is a big centre-forward, and he played off the left of him and thrived," Tony Cascarino told TalkSPORT. "It’s a bit like Michael Owen; Michael Owen without Emile Heskey was never going to be the same player. "Michael was blisteringly quick but had not the greatest of touches, but he always fired goals when he had a big lad beside him to take the pressure off him. "Werner is exactly the same to me; he is blisteringly quick, his touch is not exceptional, he’s technically not bad but not great… he can’t play centre-forward on his own. "He just can...

Why Braithwaite took penalty vs Eibar instead of Griezmann or Pjanic

Image
Quite surprisingly, it was Martin Braithwaite to take the penalty kick in the La Liga game against Eibar on Tuesday. Antoine Griezmann's entourage explained that the taker was chosen before the game, as per Tot Costa. The Frenchman has missed 4 straight penalty kicks for France and Barcelona. As for Miralem Pjanic, the Bosnian was trying to watch the VAR replay on the sidelines while Braithwaite was already waiting to take the kick. Although Martin missed from the spot, he was seemingly the one who wanted to take the penalty the most.

Laporta: 'I left the best legacy and Barca tried to discredit me

Image
Joan Laporta says he's capable of returning Barca the image they once had. The presidential candidate insists that the former board were wrong to doubt him when he was a president. "I left the best legacy and they [Barcelona board] tried to discredit me. Management from resentment leads to nowhere. They were wrong, but it's in the past now," presidential candidate and Barca's former chief Joan Laporta has told Esport3. "A president must achieve the unity of Barcelona and I see myself capable of it," he added. Joan Laporta's presidential spell was complicated by the pressure from other board members and the criticism of Laporta's political activities. Besides, Joan was one step away from leaving Camp Nou because of the worrying vote of no-confidence results due to the poor performance of Barca's sports sections in the 2000s.

Barca not planning any January signings despite Coutinho's injury

Image
Philippe Coutinho's serious knee injury won't change Barcelona's plans for the winter transfer market, reliable Fernando Polo of Mundo Deportivo reveals. The Catalans don't have the funds to make any signings - new arrivals continue to be impossible unless there are sales. Memphis Depay and Eric Garcia remain Barca's targets but the club consider landing them for free in summer. In the attack, Ronald Koeman will continue to bet on Martin Braithwaite who has scored 5 goals so far this season. The coach also hopes to have Ansu Fati back already in February, not in March. As a reminder, Coutinho suffered a meniscus injury in the 1-1 Eibar draw on Tuesday night, he's expected to miss up to 4 months after surgery.

Liverpool To Sign Kingsley Coman From Bayern Munich To Replace Salah

Image
Speculation surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool has ramped up in recent weeks after his interview with a Spanish newspaper fuelled rumours of a switch to either Barcelona or Real Madrid. But Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann feels the Reds should already be looking at Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman to fill the potential void. “For me, the best winger out there at the moment is Kingsley Coman,” the former Liverpool and Bayern midfielder told Stadium Astro. “He had injury problems when he came to Munich but he got fit and scored the winner in the Champions League final. “He’s two-footed, he’s quick, he’s very clever, great decision making and his finishing has improved a lot. “Coman is the player. Bayern Munich aren’t interested in losing him, he’s happy.” Hamann added: “If Salah were to move, if he wants to go, which might be quite likely, that will have a knock-on effect. “Liverpool will have to buy somebody. Whoever they sign, that team will need to buy a replacem...

Loic Remy: Hazard convinced me he is the Boss

Image
Remy says that when he arrived at Chelsea he asked Hazard if he takes it so lightly in training, to which Hazard said yes. Hazard didn't defend well in training, but was always certain that he was the 'boss', reveals Remy. "I knew Eden before I signed for Chelsea. I used to play against him when I was at Marseille and Nice, and he was at Lille," Loic Remy told Goal.com "So, in my first session at Chelsea, he arrived on to the training pitch with his laces undone and welcomed me. I asked him: ‘Are you going to train like this?’ He said: ‘Yes, no problem'. "I felt like going into a Chelsea training session that the intensity would be very high because it is such a big club and I put pressure on myself to perform at 100 percent. "So, when I looked at Eden... He didn’t defend well in the session either, he gave away the ball and, at the end of the training, I asked: ‘You train like this?’ He was like: ‘Don’t worry, I am the boss'. But not in a...

Fernandes Overtakes De Bruyne As Best Player In Premier League

Image
Bruno Fernandes has overtaken Kevin De Bruyne to become the best player in the Premier League. The £47million Manchester United January signing made immediate impact at Old Trafford and helped Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side achieve a third-place finish. This term, he’s been even better and already has ten goals and seven assists in just 15 games, with United sitting second in the table at the end of 2020. De Bruyne won the Premier League player of the season prize for 2019/2020 after grabbing 20 assists but former England striker Ashton believes he is no longer the top dog. The Man United midfielder has more goals and assists than his Man City rival. Fernandes has played more games than the Belgium midfielder but has a goal involvement every 75 minutes compared to 100 minutes for De Bruyne. Ashton noted the difference in De Bruyne when Aguero has been out of the team and the stats suggest there is some weight to that argument. The Man City player has created many more chances, an...

Barca set new negative record: worst point tally in 17 years

Image
The Catalans have 25 points after 15 games, their worst since the 2003-2004 season with Frank Rijkaard in charge. Barcelona will finish 2020 in the sixth place of the La Liga table with just 25 points from 15 games. It's their worst point tally in 17 years, as Gracenote point out. Barca had 20 points after the same number of game in the 2003-2004 season with Frank Rijkaard in charge. Back then, the Catalans finished the season 2nd in the league but failed to get past the round of 16 in either Copa del Rey or the UEFA Cup.

Jorginho agent talks up Chelsea exit

Image
The agent of Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has again talked up a return to Serie A. Jorginho is three years into his time with Chelsea after leaving Napoli. “Jorge is a Chelsea player and he is very happy there, but I wouldn't rule out a return to Italy in future," agent Joao Santos told Radio Kiss Kiss. He is regularly linked with a move to Juventus, but also a potential return to Napoli. There's also reports Chelsea fullback Emerson Palmieri could be heading to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. “Jorginho is good friends with Emerson Palmieri, but I don't know if they talked about a possible move to Napoli," added the agent.

Atletico Madrid ponder move for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud

Image

Sky Sport says Giroud has featured high on the list of possibilities discussed by Atletico's directors. The veteran is off contract in June and continues to be the subject of intense transfer speculation. However, Giroud has stated in recent weeks he is happy at Chelsea and in London.

Pogba remains determined to leave Man Utd

Image
Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba remains keen on a return to Juventus. While Pogba has again won praise from manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for his recent performances, The Times says the midfielder is still determined to leave Old Trafford in 2021 - with Juve his preference. Pogba spent four years in Turin before returning to United in 2016 and is still in contact with several of his former teammates. There are claims Juve would expect to land Pogba for around €55m given he is about to enter the final 18 months of his current deal. Earlier this season, Juve football chief Fabio Paratici said, "We all love Paul here. He is an extraordinary player, but currently, he plays for Manchester United. "He's not at the end of his contract, so if you want to buy Pogba you have to pay. We all know his value, but we also know his price. We will see what will happen."

While he is tied to Liverpool until 2024, it's claimed the agreement includes a break clause at the end of every season. Along with Klopp, Laporta is also keen on bringing Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland to Barca for next season.

Reason why Kai Havertz deserves patience as these 4 top players took their time to adapt

Image
Havertz has 4 goals and 4 assists in all competitions since he arrived but there's no reason to believe those numbers won't go up. Kai Havertz arrived at Chelsea as one of Europe's most highly-rated youngsters. The German had broken out at Bayer Leverkusen and quickly become one of the Bundesliga's biggest talents. However, he has been unable to produce the same numbers for Chelsea so far. Not every player gels immediately into a new team. When you take into account moving countries, learning new languages, changing positions and style of football, not to mention a pandemic, it's easy to understand why the adaptation process may take time. So here are a few examples of players who struggled early but then blossomed into exactly what the fans wanted them to be: Joao Felix Atletico signed promising Joao Felix from Benfica for £113m, the fourth-highest sum paid in football history. The attacker only managed 6 league goals all season and fans branded him a flop. Fe...

Fabrizio Romano: Chelsea don't plan to fire Frank Lampard but hope to see improvement on the pitch

Image
Chelsea does not plan a managerial change despite a dip in the form under Frank Lampard , transfer insider Fabrizio Romano said on his Here We Go Podcast. According to the source, the club hierarchy understands that the team needs time to reach its full potential. Moreover, it would be a rash decision to fire your manager during this 'crazy' season, Romano adds. That said, Lampard naturally needs to turn the situation around and make progress on the pitch. In the last 5 games, the Blues have managed to win only once, while suffering three defeats. Earlier, German news outlet Bild claimed that there was already increasing pressure on Lampard, with ex-PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel interested in the job.

Klopp provides fitness updates on Van Dijk and Matip

Image
Liverpool's manager Jurgen Klopp has said that Virgil Van Dijk has a long way to go to recover and also added that Matip will be out for 3 weeks. "Good but still a long way to go. He's making good progress but the facts are it will still take a lot of time," Klopp said about Van Dijk after the Newcastle game. The Liverpool manager also added that centre-back Joel Matip will be missing for 3 weeks after his injury against West Brom. This means Liverpool will have to start 2021 without a senior centre-back fit to play. A signing in January is looking like more and more of a necessity for the Reds if they wish to continue to stay top of the league.

Newcastle Utd Vs Liverpool: Confirmed Lineup Out

Image
Liverpool are hoping to secure a win in their upcoming game against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Wednesday. Although the English champions have been aided by poor performances from Chelsea, Leicester City and Tottenham this past week, they are only five points ahead of fifth-placed United heading into this week’s round of fixtures. Jurgen Klopp’s side have a game in-hand, meaning the gap could be reduced to two points and the Reds may even lose their place at the top should they lose against the Magpies this midweek. Therefore, it is a vital game for the Merseyside giants as they look to maintain their ideal position in the Premier League table. The premier league champions have largely performed well in recent weeks – a record that was dented by their disappointing draw with relegation-threatened West Brom on the weekend. Fortunately for the Reds, their midweek opponents in Newcastle United aren’t enjoying the best of periods in the Premier League this season. The Tyne...

How English Premier League Fixtures Are Decided And Compiled

Image
Compiling the English Premier League fixtures is almost like the impossible job as producing the list is no simple business nor a random draw. Organising an EPL fixtures table for the 380 matches in a season is the result of a meticulous and painstaking process that lasts almost half a year and involves the scheduling of 2,036 matches across the top four divisions in England. The man behind the list is Glenn Thompson, a veteran compiler who has collated about 60,000 matches since taking on the role in 1992. He explains how this crucial job of 380 matches are put together and compiled. Man Utd monitoring Norwich fullback Max Aarons

Image
Manchester United are tracking Norwich City fullback, Max Aarons. They are keen to strengthen their full-back options and are keeping close tabs on the 20-year-old who also attracted interest from Barcelona last summer. Aarons is regarded as one of English football's best young prospects, he did well last season despite Norwich being relegated from the Premier League. This season has also seen the England under-21 international shine in their promising start to the Championship campaign as they look to go straight back up to the top flight.

Arsenal ponders january Isco loan from Real Madrid

Image
Arsenal is keen to take Isco on-loan from Real Madrid. Arsenal is targeting a loan move for Isco once the January transfer window opens later this week, says PA Sport. The Gunners have reportedly made the Spaniard their No 1 transfer target and will offer the 28-year-old a route out of his Bernabeu nightmare, where he has fallen out of favour under Zinedine Zidane. The north London club wants to bring in Isco on a six-month loan deal once the window opens in the new year but face a number of hurdles to make the move happen. To bring Isco to the Emirates, Arsenal will need Real to pay a portion of the Spaniard's wages which could prove to be a stumbling block for the Madrid club.

Burnley takeover to be completed in next 48 hours

Image
Burnley is set to be sold in the next 48 hours. The Mirror says Burnley's takeover by American group ALK Capital is set to be completed before the transfer window opens to give Sean Dyche a welcome boost next month. ALK has agreed in principle to buy Burnley from Clarets chairman and majority shareholder Mike Garlick and hope to announce the deal in the coming days. ALK managing director and former Wall Street financier Alan Pace is understood to have passed the Premier League's owners and directors' test. Pace, who is a former president of MLS side Real Salt Lake, is ambitious for Burnley and will immediately make funds available for Dyche in the January transfer window.

Zidane comments on Isco and Marcelo exit links

Image
During the press conference ahead of the Elche trip, Zinedine Zidane was asked to comment on the recent rumours linking Marcelo and Isco with a possible exit. "I'm counting on all my players. I don’t get involved in things about players reportedly wanting to leave. All the players are training well. That’s good news for a coach. They’re very professional and I think they’re training well," the coach answered. "I'm happy to see all the players focused. They’ll all have chances to play. All these players want to play. It’s difficult to leave players out, but this is part of the coach’s job and it’s the bad part." Isco and Marcelo haven't been getting much playing time at Real Madrid this season, with the left-back getting 519 minutes across 6 matches and registering two assists. The midfielder, meanwhile, has recorded 457 minutes across 11 matches and provided one assist.

Real Madrid female goalkeeper opens up on death threats and abuse from Atletico fans

Image
Real Madrid Femeni's goalkeeper Sara Ezquerro revealed to HBO's A Real Dream documentary how he was suffering from the Atletico Madrid fans at the early days of her playing career. She said: "I'm a Madridista to the core. I was at the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid when we won the Undecima in 2016. I was playing for Atleti B but I was wearing the green Iker Casillas' goalkeeper shirt back then." Blancos won 6-4 on penalties and Ezquerro's photo went viral. The next days became a true nightmare for a young goalkeeper who was only 17 back then. "The next day, I saw more than 100 notifications. I received 100 messages in 20 minutes. Some were like: 'I hope we'll see you in the street and rape you, I hope I can find out where you live so I can go and kill you'. I was having an anxiety attack!" Ezquerro added that she was unable to leave her house for a while and eventually Atletico released her. Thankfull...

Defensive Crisis Worsens For Liverpool In Van Dijk Latest Injury Update

Image
Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk has provided fans with an update on social media on his recovery from a ruptured cruciate ligament. The Dutchman posted a video of him cycling on his Twitter account as he enters week 10 of his recovery. The next stage of his recovery will see the 29-year-old start utilising the swimming pool at Liverpool’s training complex.
