He mentioned the likes of Drogba and Makelele in the video and also expressed the desire to have his own banner at Stamford Bridge in the future. Back in December, Barcelona president Joan Laporta said that he rated Ousmane Dembele above Kylian Mbappe.

Image
According to Marca, Real Madrid expect that all of Eden Hazard, Alvaro Odriozola, Mariano and Marco Asensio will continue at the club this season. The transfer window shuts down on September 1, and no departure is close to being completed at the moment. Out of the four players, Asensio is the only one to have received interest from top clubs. However, the winger is determined to change his situation at madrid around and have an important role this season. Odriozola seems to be the player that Carlo Ancelotti counts the least on, preferring other options at right-back. Nevertheless the club would be open to the departure of all four players for economic reasons. Source: Marca

Fan names one promise Barca president delivered – it has to do with Dembele and Mbappe

Image
Back in December, Barcelona president Joan Laporta said that he rated Ousmane Dembele above Kylian Mbappe. At the time, many ridiculed Laporta for his words. Dembele was struggling to get regular playing time due to injuries while Mbappe was the leader at PSG despite Leo Messi and Neymar being on the team. Nine months later, though, Dembele is in the form of his life while Mbappe is affected by off-the-pitch issues in France. Thus, Twitter user BorowskiChuck believes that Laporta was right all along. "Laporta didn't lie when he said Dembele is better than Mbappe," they tweet. Laporta didn't lie when he said Dembele is better than Mbappe — Chuck Borowski (@BorowskiChuck) August 29, 2022 After a messy extension saga, Dembele has had a great start to the season. So far, the Frenchman has recorded a goal and two assists in three matches for Barca. Source: Twitter

'Di Matteo won Champions League and got sacked': many Chelsea fans turn on Tuchel

Image
Chelsea were defeated by minnows Southampton 2-1. The Blues put in extremely poor performance and this is not the first time the team plays so bad this season. A portion of Chelsea fans think that Thomas Tuchel is to blame and some believe he should be sacked. Geezer: "Thomas Tuchel is the worst Chelsea manager in history, absolutely stubborn and clueless. How the hell do you keep playing a particular player that offers nothing week in week out. Sack this man for f*cks sake, Di Matteo won the UCL and got sacked." London Is Blue21: "Tuchel needs to get the sack asap before our season is over. Man is a straight up fraud. Spending all this money has exposed him. He was never an elite manager. That was a depressing performance. But yet he says he doesn’t need Ronaldo." NenyeChelsea: "Just give Roman the club back for 1hr so he can sack Tuchel and return it back." Lerry: "If Abramovich was still the owner of Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel will not finish the seaso...

'Key player after key player': Tuchel laments Chelsea injury problems

Image
"It reminds me of Juventus last season. We played a fantastic match at Stamford Bridge, and after that we had Chilly off for eight months and Kante for eight weeks," Thomas Tuchel told Chelsea's official website when asked about the Blues' injury issues. "It was the same against Tottenham this season. We had a fantastic performance and after that our key player says goodbye for six weeks minimum, and then it’s red cards, and Ruben is off injured, and Reece is off with illness. "It’s key player after key player. But more importantly, if these key players are missing we need to show a different mentality. It’s not enough at the moment to win at Leeds and Southampton. "We’re humble enough to know we can lose football matches, even if we hate it, but it’s too easy to push us off the track." Chelsea's current injury problems are the following: Kante, Chalobah and Loftus-Cheek are injured, James is ill and Kovacic is not fit to play 90 minutes,

'I really feel loved here': Bukayo Saka hints new Arsenal contract is close

Image
Speaking to the Mirror about the likelihood of new Arsenal contact, Bukayo Saka said: "Yes, I share the manager's confidence. I feel like he's always there for me. "Mikel Arteta knows when to speak to me, it's not too much and not too little. The different bits of advice he gives me are special and it makes such a difference. "I really feel at home here. I really feel the love from my team-mates, my coaches and the fans as well. I really feel loved here. We're loving every bit of it." Speaking to the media last week, Arteta stated that a new contract for Saka was basically a done deal and there was a matter of 'putting it on a piece of paper'. The 20-year-old's current deal at the Emirates expires in the summer of 2024 and tying the forward down has been Arsenal's priority for over a year now. Source: Mirror

Auba talks with Chelsea 'complicated', clubs consider a loan deal

Image
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Barcelona are in intensive talks with Chelsea over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's move. The parties have still not reached an agreement over the transfer fee, with Blaugrana demanding more than what the Blues are ready to pay. The move is further 'complicated' by the consequences of a recent armed robbery. The intruders who robbed Auba broke his jaw, so the Gabonese could miss up to 3 weeks of football because of that. Chelsea need a striker now, and Auba picking up an injury could see the Blues turning their attention away from him, although it is not certain at the moment. Ornstein also reports that the new solution is a season-long loan for Auba. The clubs are currently discussing this option. Source: David Ornstein

Other Premier League clubs are also interested in Garner but one thing is certain: he will not be a Man United player beyond September 1. Source: FabrizioRomano @ Twitter

'It's not a question of striker or no striker': Tuchel on need of more signings before transfer deadline

Image
Chelsea have spent over $150m so far this summer and the Wesley Fofana deal is all but done, which will take their spend to over $230m. However, the start to this season has been terrible for the Blues. Asked if Chelsea need a striker or more signings in other departments, Tuchel told the media: "It's not a question of striker or no striker. No focal point. As a team we're not strong enough at the moment. "What it [this loss] reminded me of was Juventus last season. We played a fantastic match last season but then we had Chilly out for eight months and Kante out for three months. "We had a fantastic match against Tottenham but then our key player is out for six weeks. Conor is out. Ruben has injury. Mateo Kovacic has an injury from pre-season and Reece wasn't here today. "With our demands, it's simply like that. It would be more important if these key players are missing, we need to show a different mentality." "The line is so thin before e...

"The recommendation for Kovacic was 20 minutes [to play today]. "I also don’t understand why we are in this situation regarding injuries, all players in midfield. We need to find solutions." The solutions sentence perhaps hints at Chelsea looking for a midfielder in the market before the window ends. With only 2 days left, they will have to move fast to do so. Source: Sky Sports

Klopp gives detailed answer over midfielder transfer and squad depth

Image
Jürgen Klopp expanded on Liverpool's thinking behind their pursuit of a midfielder in the transfer market as he was hounded with the questions again ahead of the club's match against Newcastle United tomorrow. Klopp gave a detailed answer to if the search is still ongoing and why Liverpool decided to move so late in the market, with the deadline now just more than 48 hours away. "Look, the situations are the following, we start the season with nine midfielders? I would say nine. And every aspect was everything in, like creativity, speed, excitement because young, stuff like this, technique, fight, runners, whatever you want, it's all in. "They all have contracts and then you start a pre-season, or this kind of things. When a player [with] one-year contract, whatever, two-year contract comes and then [says], 'I didn't play often enough last year. Then I want to go.' Then in that moment, he go. "But the one thing that we push people actively out and...

Speaking to the reporters ahead of the Aston Villa clash, the Arsenal manager said: "We still have to make another scan on Thomas, to see the length. "Let's see [if the injury is long-term]. I cannot tell you yet. [The injury is in the] similar area [as last season], but hopefully it's not as bad." Partey missed the final ten games of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign for the Gunners after picking up an ankle injury. Arsenal are alarmed by the 29-year-old's fitness record and want to sign a midfielder before the September 1 transfer deadline. Source: Mirror

Man United fans see no future for Van de Beek at the club

Image
Donny van de Beek returned to Old Trafford from his loan spell at Everton earlier this summer with renewed hope but the Dutchman's situation remains the same. Even though his old manager Erik ten Hag is in charge at the club, the Dutchman has featured for just 19 minutes in the Premier League so far this season. And the majority of Manchester United fans believe that 25-year-old has no future with the Red Devils given that he's still nowhere near the starting XI. RedIan (via RedCafe): "Seems like his old manager doesn't fancy him either. Third in pecking order, behind Bruno and Eriksen." Poborsky's hair: "Unfortunately his reselling value dropped big time as well. Would only assume probably Ajax would take him for some 10 million back if ever. Was a weird transfer in the first place, everyone here made me believe he's more than what he's a decent system player for a dominating team in a poor league." Telsim: "He must be absolutely diabol...

Tottenham complete the £42.5m permanent signing of defender Cristian Romero

Image
Tottenham have completed the permanent signing of Argentinian defender Cristian Romero for £42.5million. After initially joining the club on loan from Atalanta in August 2021, the centre-back has now penned a deal with Spurs that will run until 2027. Romero made 30 appearances in all competitions last year, scoring one goal, in a 2-0 win over Brighton. The commanding and aggressive 24-year-old defender has become a key man for Antonio Conte's side. He was a crucial part of the Italian's back three that ended the previous season with 10 wins from 14 Premier League games to help Spurs qualify for the Champions League. The Argentinian international has made two appearances so far this season but is currently out injured after he picked up a muscle problem during Spurs' pulsating 2-2 clash with Chelsea. Barcelona’s priority target at right-back becomes Borussia Dortmund’s Thomas Meunier

Image
Barcelona are still keen to bring in a right-back before the summer transfer window comes to a close on Thursday. Due to Juan Foyth’s injury, their priority has become Borussia Dortmund defender Thomas Meunier according to Mundo Deportivo. Barcelona had pushed to sign Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta earlier in the window only to come short. Meunier is their preferred option right now but Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin, also connected with Real Betis, is another possibility. Contact with Meunier’s agents was activated a couple of days ago. The 30-year-old Belgian international is an experienced operator with Paris Saint-Germain on his CV as well as Dortmund. He likes the idea of joining Barcelona but Dortmund won’t make it easy with such little time left in the window – they’re demanding between €15m and €20m. Barcelona don’t want to spend that. Barcelona have started the season well but are wary that tough tests are on the horizon. They’ve won two of their first three La Liga games...

Liverpool are 'ready to make late £42m move for Brighton star Moises Caicedo'

Image
Liverpool are reportedly lining up a £42million bid for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo in the final few days of the summer transfer window. The 20-year-old, who was a £4.5m signing from Independiente in February 2021, has caught plenty of attention from the Premier League's top six teams after impressing under Graham Potter this season. Jurgen Klopp is already dealing with an injury crisis at Anfield in the centre of the park with Thiago, Curtis Jones, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all out injured. This has left the Reds boss to look to the market once again and, according to The Sun, Liverpool are readying a sizeable bid for the Ecuadorian. Reports of a £42m bid were relayed back to Potter in his Monday press conference and the Seagulls manager said that any potential suitors would need pay well over double that figure to lure his away from the Amex. Potter said: 'In football you never know, but we are quite calm and confident. 'You'd probably get his boot...

Willian closing in on Premier League return with Fulham

Image
Willian is set for a remarkable return to the Premier League with a move Fulham. The Craven Cottage club are working to sign the former Brazil international on a free transfer and hope to compete the deal on Tuesday. Willian has been training with the Premier League new-boys as the former Chelsea star prioritised a return to England this summer. The 34-year-old left Brazilian club Corinthians earlier this month and is a free agent. He has received several offers from several clubs across Europe but Fulham are firmly in pole position to sign Willian who impressed Marco Silva during his training stint. There is no immediate rush for Willian to sign for a new club because he is a free agent meaning he can join a team outside the transfer window - that closes on August 31. But Fulham expect to complete the deal in the next 48 hours. More to follow.

Paul Pogba 'paid £85,000 to extortionists who were demanding £11m and held him hostage'

Image
Football star Paul Pogba reportedly paid £85,000 (€100,000) to his extortionists who were demanding £11million after they dragged him to a Paris apartment in March and threatened him with assault rifles in part of an alleged plot to blackmail him. The 29-year-old, who has won the World Cup with France, said the men wanted the money for 'protection services' stretching back 13 years, including for the time he spent in Manchester. Pogba claims two armed men said they 'protected him discreetly' during a period that spanned more than a decade, including during two spells at Manchester United, the last of which ended earlier this year. Reports from French news outlet RMC are claiming that Pogba paid around £85,000 in a bid to 'save time' and 'satisfy the extortionists' but his attempts saw those plotting against him demand the £11m again. Only one Barca player doesn't have a jersey number - Kounde registered with No. 23

We already showed you all the registered squad numbers for Barcelona players this season. For Braithwaite, he has less than three days to leave Barcelona or be at risk of missing the World Cup due to a lack of competitive action.   Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was delighted with Aurelien Tchouameni's performance for victory at Espanyol. Ancelotti says the French youngster will continue to improve as the players get used to him. He said, "We were always superior, they were dangerous from set pieces and they scored a goal for us due to bad luck. They gained more confidence, they went for the game and luckily we found the 1-2 to put us ahead. "We're not surprised (by Tchouameni), he's a spectacular player, it was difficult at first, but you can tell he feels very good and in training you can see that. "He plays well in defence and attack. I'm happy with him and I hope he continues to improve. "The rotation of the midfielders was planned with (Luka) Modric and (Fede) Valverde who were a little behind and Tchouameni was going up."
