Image
The year 2021 is almost over and it's safe to say that Lionel Messi's transfer to Paris Saint-Germain could be going better. And according to the statistics media Understat, the 34-year-old is actually the 'most underperforming' player in the French top flight. Because Messi's expected goals number stands at 4.62 goals, he has a negative difference of 3.62 expected goals after only scoring once. Source: Understat

Tuchel gives update on Chilwell and James injury recoveries

Image
"Chilly of course has had his surgery and he has our best wishes and all of our energy to come back healthy and as soon as possible," Tuchel said in his pre-match press conference. "Unfortunately it seems like the season is over for him. "With Reecey it’s a hamstring injury, a muscle injury, and as always with muscle injures, the examination [results] comes a little bit later. You cannot rush these things. "The images are better if you wait a little bit. So the images will come back to us later today I guess and only then will we know more about his status. "That’s the situation on the wing-backs at this moment." The situation at wing0back has become quite dire for Chelsea, with Marcos Alonso now the only fit option ahead of a massive Liverpool game. Referees for crucial Liverpool v Chelsea clash revealed

Image
Liverpool will play Chelsea on January 2nd in what has already become an extremely important game in the season for both teams. With Man City having pulled ahead by 8 points at the moment, the loser of this game could fall behind the league leaders by double digits. The referees for this game have been revealed and Anthony Taylor will be taking charge of the game while Paul Tierney is on VAR. This isn't the best news for Reds fans, with both referees having officiated Reds games very poorly in 2021. Jurgen Klopp has suggested Tierney may have a problem with him while Anthony Taylor was called into question by fans earlier in the year for his terrible decisions against Man United. Obviously, this will not be an excuse for the Reds who should be looking to beat an injury-ridden Chelsea team regardless, but every decision in that game will now likely come under scrutiny. FC Barcelona Still find it difficult to register Ferran Torres

Image
Ferran Torres will only be registered in La Liga if Barcelona manage to offload both Samuel Umtiti and Philippe Coutinho in January, Mundo Deportivo report. Ousmane Dembele's financial demands 'have made it difficult' for Barca to register the new signing. If Dembele signed a contract extension, his lowered wage would be split into several years and the club would have some extra funds available. Things could also get better if Barca managed to sell Dembele in January. However, this also looks incredibly unlikely. As for Umtiti and Coutinho, they remain linked with several clubs but nothing is advanced at this stage. Source: Mundo Deportivo

Semi Ajayi, Tyronne Ebuehi, Peter Olayinka Join Nigeria’s AFCON Roster

Image
West Bromwich Albion of England defender, Semi Ajayi is on course for his first appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations, following his late inclusion in Nigeria’s squad list, in which he will be joined by Venezia of Italy right-back, Tyronne Ebuehi and Sparta Prague of Czech Republic striker, Peter Olayinka. Ajayi was dropped from the last squad, despite being in top form then with Rotherham United, who he could not help escape relegation to the third-tier English League One, but he quickly gained a transfer to West Brom in the English Championship. e360hubs.com reports that the product of Arsenal’s Hale End Academy continues being in top form with Albion, such that many eyebrows were raised in the first place with his absence from the original roster named by Eagles’ interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen. Justification now appears to have come for the versatile player, who also knocks home goals regularly for The Baggies, before which he previously starred for Charlton Athletic, Dartford,...

Nigeria’s preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations were dealt another heavy blow early Friday, as news filtered in that Glasgow Rangers of Scotland defender Leon Aderemi Balogun, Omonia Nicosia of Cyprus defender Abdullahi Shehu and Watford of England striker Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis have all withdrawn from the Super Eagles’ roster. Megasportsarena.com reports that the withdrawals of Balogun, Shehu and Dennis took to four the number of players that have exited the Super Eagles’ squad list to the impending continental soccer showpiece in Cameroon, as SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen took the first step on Thursday. Osimhen was quickly replaced same evening with Olympiakos of Greece attacker, Henry Onyekuru, while Peter Olayinka of Sparta Prague in Czech Republic has now been called up in place of Dennis, with Venezia of Italy full-back, Tyronne Ebuehi replacing Shehu and Balogun’s place taken by Semi Ajayi from West Bromwich Albion of England. Covid Knocks Osimhen Out Of Afcon, NFF Scuttle Emmanuel Dennis’s Dreams

Image
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play at the Africa Cup of Nations without two of their best legs. Victor Osimhen’s positive test to the coronavirus pandemic a couple of days ago and injury to the versatile Abdullahi Shehu have constrained changes to Nigeria’s final 28-man list for the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations starting in Cameroon next weekend, Megasportsarena.com reports. Osimhen’s absence paves way for Greece-based Henry Onyekuru who was also at the last finals in Egypt while Tyrone Ebuehi takes the place of Abdullahi. Nigeria’s rave in the English Premier League, Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis has also been dropped from the Afcon party after talks between the Nigeria Football Federation and Watford fell flat. Megasportsarena.com understands that it may not be unconnected with Watford’s insistence that the player’s invitation for the tournament came too late, reason the most improved Nigerian player anywhere in the world won’t be playing in the Afcon. Revealed: Lukaku rejected Man City a year before Chelsea return

Image
Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku says he turned down a lucrative offer from Manchester City 12 months before his £98m departure from Inter Milan. The Belgian striker, who caused a storm in the same interview by saying he is not happy with his situation at Stamford Bridge, suggested he could have returned to the Premier League earlier than he did, and with Chelsea's title rivals too. Lukaku said City offered him a larger salary than his current £212,000-a-week deal at Chelsea. He told Sky Italia: "After the first year, I turned down an offer from Manchester City that was higher than Chelsea's current one, because I didn't want to (move). "It was not the time, it was the first year and I wanted to do something good for Inter because they saved my career. "I was in a tunnel at Manchester United. I was a big investment for Inter and we did great things together." Lukaku added: "I think everything that happened last summer was not supposed to happen like th...

Fabrizio Romano shares latest clarification on Lukaku quotes

Image
Romelu Lukaku shared his unhappiness with Thomas Tuchel's system in an interview released by Sky Italia on Thursday. The boss later said in a press conference that if there was to be any discussion, it would take place behind closed doors. Now, the reliable Fabrizio Romano has shared Lukaku's latest quotes which provide further clarification. The Belgian reportedly said: "Tuchel and I are trying to find a tactical system where we can "find" each other - a way to help the team because the situation [PL table] is a bit complicated. "He made his choice - I keep working, at a certain point I'll speak with Tuchel and we will see the situation." While this doesn't sound as bad as the quotes yesterday, it's still poor timing from Lukaku and the sooner the saga is over, the better it will be for Chelsea. Source: FabrizioRomano @ Twitter

Image
Barcelona are eyeing Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte. Laporte, 27, was unhappy at losing his regular place last season to John Stones. But the Spain international has reclaimed a starting berth during the first half of this campaign. However, Barca hope to get another cash injection next summer and make a move for him after signing Ferran Torres, says The Sun. The Nou Camp giants announced the £55m capture of the 21-year-old Man City star earlier this week. The cash-strapped side had to take out a loan to afford the attacker. And they expect to get more money next summer to be able to afford new signings.

It's going to be a great season for him, I'm sure."

The manager said we set the record for the most amount of turnovers in the league. We had to keep the ball better. "Goals help energy. If we bang in two or three at Newcastle it gives the whole team energy. It is so important. "Now is the time we really start stepping up and doing much, much better. The American legend appeared to take note of the stats, which show that Usyk’s professional record stands at 19-0 with 13 KOs, while Joshua is 24-2 with 22 KOs. Joshua’s only other professional defeat came against Mexican-American blubbery icon, Andy Ruiz Jr, who stopped the Nigerian-born Briton in June 2019 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, USA.
