Chelsea fans aim to stage anti-Ricketts protest at Stamford Bridge before Brentford game

Image
Chelsea fans are still pretty unhappy with the fact that the Ricketts family are very much in the race to buy the club despite the history of racist and homophobic claims from the members of the family. Well, some of those fans are now trying to organise the #NoToRicketts protest outside Stamford Bridge hours before the Blues' Premier League clash with Brentford. Most importantly, they don't focus on the off-the-pitch issues, as the Ricketts' ownership of the Chicago Cubs also draws a lot of questions (the pic below is clickable). No wonder the sentiment is pretty strong among the fanbase on social media. Alex Goldberg, Twitter: "Look at this below and tell me with a straight face they’re suitable to be Chelsea’s owners." ShaneLowrysBeard, Reddit: "I’ll be there. Can’t help but feel it’s risky to only focus on the racism and homophobia when they are objectively just terrible owners but it’s a great start." CFCDaily, Twitter: "How many red flags for ...

The trio's contracts at Old Trafford expire in June 2022 and Man United's plan is to allow them to leave the club on a free transfer. 'He lied to me and Messi': Pique slams Bartomeu amid BarcaGate scandal

Image
"Bartomeu is a person with many insecurities. He wants to make everyone happy and can't say no. He doesn't know how to deal with problems. In the end, we never even saw him at the training base," Gerard Pique has told Jordi Wild. "Why am I angry with him? Because he lied to my face with this BarcaGate scandal. The club hired a service to criticise players and told both me and Messi that they didn't know anything about it," he added. Josep Maria Bartomeu and his board were accused of paying over one million euros to social media company I3 Ventures for a smear campaign. The plot was to paint Barca legends Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique and Xavi in a negative light while portraying Bartomeu positively. Bartomeu was arrested in March but was later released with a trial date set. Source: Jordi Wild

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva reveals when he plans to retire

Image
“I hope I can do the same thing that Maldini did at Milan, playing until he was 40 or 41 years old,” Thiago Silva told Chelsea's official club website. “That’s my plan for the immediate future and I have prepared myself for that. “When you’re young, you think you’re a superhero. I’d play one game a day so in terms of recovery it was a lot quicker, whereas now 24 hours seems like no time at all in which to recover. “You’ve always got to be active and up to speed with the new recovery methods out there. I’ve got lots of things I do at home like physio work, and nowadays I’ve got a better diet than before. You need to fuel yourself well, not with the bad stuff. “This is part of what I’ve got to do so that I can optimise this recovery process, which for me needs to be quicker.” Silva is 37 now, he turns 38 in December. So if he indeed plans on retiring at the age of 40 or 41, he has two or three seasons left in professional football. The Brazilian's Chelsea contract expires in 2023...

Thus, the Catalans are open to negotiating a new deal. However, they insist on Roberto accepting the initial offer, which the player considered too low. Sergi wants a pay cut similar to the other captains, though. The positions between the parties remain distant. The 30-year-old has been struggling with injuries in the past two seasons. This term so far, the Spaniard has recorded two goals and one assist in 12 matches for Barca. Source: Mundo Deportivo

Zelensky confirms Abramovich involved in Ukraine peace talks

Image
Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week that Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky personally asked his US counterpart Joe Biden not to impose sanctions on Roman Abramovich due to his involvement in peace talks. Zelensky has refused to confirm he made the plea to Biden but confirmed that Abramovich has indeed tried to help the victims of the Russian invasion, as well as influence the Russian president Vladimir Putin to negotiate a peace deal. "You are naming a single big businessman from Russia," Zelensky said when asked about the Wall Street Journal's report about Abramovich, as quoted by Meduza. "All these people, being afraid of the sanctions... I think it's not about patriotism. I understand the comfort they used to have and no longer have or will no longer have, and there's really no light at the end of the tunnel for them. "Of course, they are looking for a way out. "But I want to tell you that throughout all these years [since 2014, the...

Ex-Chelsea player urges Liverpool to buy Conor Gallagher

Image
"Conor Gallagher is an outstanding attacking midfielder who always looks like he’s going to get a goal or make an assist," former Chelsea player Tony Cascarino told talkSPORT. "I like him because I don’t think there’s too many of his type around. Liverpool, for me, if they had a player like that as well adding him behind their front three, with his ability to get goals. Chelsea would never sell him to Liverpool, but they’d do really well with him. "Conor Gallagher will get goals. Whether or not he will get his chance at Chelsea, I don’t know. No-one at Chelsea can do what he does. "But it depends if Thomas Tuchel wants to play that kind of player in his system. I hope he does give him a chance." The on-loan Chelsea midfielder has scored eight goals in 25 league games for Crystal Palace this season. It is very unlikely Chelsea would sell him. Gallagher is expected to fight for the place in the first team next season.

Adama to leave if Barca sign Raphinha

Image
Adama Traore will not continue at Camp Nou if Barcelona end up signing Raphinha this summer, Javi Miguel of Diario AS says. This makes a lot of sense since keeping Adama would mean paying Wolves around €30m. The Catalans would reportedly like to swap him for Francisco Trincao but the English side is not interested. Meanwhile, Raphinha will have a release clause of €25m if Leeds United end up getting relegated and €75m if they do not. Adama joined Barca on loan in January. Since then, he's played 10 games for us and registered four assists. The 25-year-old has been a regular starter under Xavi. Source: Diario AS

Memphis potential summer destinations revealed

Image
Mundo Deportivo's reliable Gabriel Sans reports that Memphis Depay has attracted the attentions of clubs from Premier League and Serie A. At the moment, Tottenham Hotspur are the most likely destinations, they really want to sign the Dutchman. Memphis is happy at Barcelona but will be ready to consider his future depending on the situation. His contract at the club runs until 2023. It's been reported that the Catalans will try to sell Depay in the summer. Xavi appreciates the 28-year-old but wants a striker, a profile that Memphis doesn't fit. This term so far, Memphis has played 29 games for Barca, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists.

Ten Hag 'stunned' by Man United's inability to offer him contract after interview

Image
Erik ten Hag has been baffled by how Man United have failed to produce a contract offer for him since interviewing him on Monday, 21 March, claims the Mirror. This is despite the Dutchman informing the hierarchy that money won’t be an issue in the deal and he doesn’t want a lucrative contract. Ten Hag impressed United’s higher-ups that he is more focused on rebuilding the team than looking out for his own financial interest. But even after laying out his ambitious future plans, the Ajax boss was stunned that the Red Devils didn’t even want to open contract talks. The Dutchman comes from a wealthy background and has a big stake in his family business, which is why he isn’t after a lot of money. The reason why the Red Devils didn’t offer him a contract is because they want to speak with other candidates, including Mauricio Pochettino, before making the final decision on their next manager. But Ten Hag is growing impatient with United’s inability to produce an offer for him and with multi...

If the results are positive, the 19-year-old will join the rest of the group in training later that day. Fati's return to the pitch is expected to happen in the first leg against Eintracht Frankfurt on April 7. Previous reports claimed that Barca would not rush the forward. As he refused to undergo surgery, he is at an increased risk of a relapse. Going under the knife would've meant that Ansu missed the rest of the season, though. The La Masia graduate has been struggling injuries over the past two seasons. This term so far, Fati has played 10 games for the Catalans, scoring five goals and providing an assist.
