The 27-year-old has received multiple offers this summer, but he is waiting to see how Madrid will solve their situation upfront. He prioritizes a return to Santiago Bernabeu. Meanwhile, Espanyol are ready to sell the striker for €25-30m. De Tomas has been great over the last two seasons, scoring 40 goals for Espanyol, including 17 La Liga goals last term. His good performances have earned him a call-up to the national team. As mentioned above, Raul is a product of La Fabrica, spending 15 years at the club before his eventual departure in 2019. However, he played only one single match for the seniors back in the 2014-15 season. Source: Diario AS

The 29-year-old has since however maintained his innocence despite the conviction. If anything, myself, family and friends are the victims.' Maguire and his brother got involved in the brawl after two men allegedly tried to inject the...

Liverpool supporters boo the national anthem AGAIN ahead of the Community Shield

Image
Twitter came alive on Saturday after Liverpool fans once again booed the national anthem ahead of their Community Shield 3-1 win over Manchester City. The traditional rendition of 'God Save the Queen' was drowned out by jeers and followed with a chant of 'F*** the Tories' from the Liverpool end. It follows a similar reaction ahead of last season's FA Cup final, when fans booed as Prince William met the Chelsea and Liverpool players on the pitch. And those on Twitter were quick to call out Liverpool fans who were involved in the booing again. 'Liverpool fan here. Quite honestly it's a disgrace to boo your own national anthem,' tweeted one fan. 'Don't sing it if you don't want. But don't disrespect it. This crap is why we take so much stick off everyone. You don't do us any favours.' Another expressed similar sentiments, posting: 'Why would you even boo the national anthem Liverpool fans?!!! Disrespectful.' Others focused on...

Real Madrid defeat Juventus for its first win of the preseason tour around USA

Image
Real Madrid defeated Juventus 2-0 on Saturday night at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California with goals from Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio. Benzema scored a solid penalty to break the stalemate in the opening half. The Frenchman found the net in the early moments of the match but the goal was disallowed due to a clear offsides violation. There was no need for VAR interference as the linesman was sure of Benzema's illegal position. Benzema opened the score in minute 19 with an ice-cold finish from the penalty spot. The referee awarded Madrid with the penalty after Vinicius Jr. was knocked down from behind inside the box. Real Madrid get its first preseason win Real Madrid controlled possession as the first 45 minutes came to a close, with the only dangerous play from Juventus coming courtesy of Leonardo Bonucci, whose free kick pierced the crossbar. Juventus midfielder Juan Cuadrado replaced Angel Di Maria to start the second half, with the Argentine failing to make an impact agai...

Xavi: Lewandowski’s frustration is normal. He will end up scoring

Image
Speaking about his thoughts on Robert Lewandowski being frustrated not to score in Barcelona’s 2-0 win over the NY Red Bulls, Xavi said: “Lewandowski's reason for frustration is normal. “It already happened to SuĆ”rez when he came. He will end up scoring.” Lewandowski had a lot of chances to score, but was unable to do so against NY Red Bulls. He looked nervous at times, but normally sharp in his overall game. Barca launch study to determine the impact of Messi's return on club's brand: Romero

Image
According to the highly-credible Gerard Romero, Barcelona have requested a special study from the marketing department to determine the impact of Leo Messi's return on the club's brand. This could suggest that Barca primarily view Messi's return as a marketing move and not necessarily a sporting one. It's no doubt that his return would boost Barca's ticket and jersey sales while also offering them better sponsorship opportunities. Xavi has already said that he wants Leo on his team. However, considering that the Argentine will be 36 years old by next summer, it's difficult to imagine him as an undisputed starter if he were to come back. Especially with the attacking line we have now. Source: Gerard Romero

'Let's see what happens': Xavi gives update on Frenkie de Jong's future at Barcelona

Image
When asked about whether Barcelona are still looking to sell Frenkie de Jong, Xavi said: “I haven't sent any signal to Frenkie de Jong. “Let's see what happens, as there is a lot of time until the 31st of August.” Of course, the summer transfer window will end after August 31 and if De Jong is not sold by then, he will remain at Barca player this season. The Dutchman put in an impressive performance against NY Bulls, showing why the Blaugrana would not be smart to sell him. Source: Totcosta @Twitter

"This is my goal" - Lewandowski makes honest admission after being asked about rivalry with Benzema after Barcelona switch

Image
Since Robert Lewandowski's move to Barcelona was announced earlier this month, football fans have been looking forward to the Pole's rivalry with Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema. However, the former Bayern Munich maestro has distanced himself from those talks, reiterating that his focus will be on what his team is doing during the season. Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema are clearly two of the finest strikers in the football world at the moment. Hence, it's natural that fans will come up with such comparisons. The Real Madrid superstar played a huge role in his team's domestic and continental success last season and his Barcelona counterpart has nothing but words of praise for him. "Benzema is an amazing player, he showed that in the last Champions League season; what he did during the games against PSG, Chelsea or Man City," Lewandowski said as he hailed the Frenchman's impact. "He's already, I don't know how many years, 10 or even 12 y...

'He'll try to nail down a starting spot': fan names one youngster he's especially excited about for this season

Image
Eduardo Camavinga had a rotational role in his first season at Real Madrid, starting just 16 games. Reddit user u/An*l-examination believes that the 19-year-old will fight for a starting spot this year around, and is excited to see what the Frenchman will do with more playing time. "I am particularly excited to see Camavinga play next season. I actually don’t think he’s going to go through the sophomore slump that Vinicius Jr. went through in his second season at Real Madrid. I really think next season is when he’s going to try and nail down a starting spot for himself. "Camavinga had a slow but decent game against Barcelona. Against Club America, he was really, really good. Of course, the quality of the opposition wasn’t as high this time, but he really showed everyone how good he is, and how much potential he’s keeping in his back pocket. "Camavinga was moving towards the ball, he was very silky in possession, he tried to combine with Tchouameni and Valverde, and progr...

'The boys are ready': Klopp reacts to Man City win

Image
“Two teams who were far away from their best, but what both teams made of what was had was absolutely incredible," Jurgen Klopp told ITV after the Community Shield win over Man City. "I liked the game a lot, most of the time City games against us are good to watch. We don’t win them always, but they are always entertaining. “I was happy with the starting line-up and how we started the game, but then I have to say that all subs made a real difference. "They were really in the game, and I loved that. The thing I learned today was that the boys are ready. That was good." Liverpool start the season with an emphatic victory over their main title rivals - even though, as Klopp points out, neither side was at the maximum of their powers. Source: ITV

Riqui Puig receives offer from USA, needs to respond in coming days

Image
Los Angeles Galaxy are ready to sign Riqui Puig on a contract until 2023, Mundo Deportivo's credible Ferran Martinez reports. It is unclear whether the American team is ready to pay a fee or Barcelona will have to let the midfielder leave for free. Riqui needs to make a final decision in this regard before August 4 when the transfer window in the MLS shuts down. Meanwhile, Puig's agents are working on alternatives, all of them outside Spain. It's explained that the 22-year-old has received offers from La Liga teams but they did not satisfy him in terms of salary and project. Meanwhile, it is clear that Xavi does not count on the La Masia midfielder for this season. He barely played last season and has now been excluded from the travelling squad to the US for the pre-season tour.

Bernardo 'very attracted' by Barca move, ready to wait until the end of the window to join us

Image
Bernardo Silva is 'very attracted' by the idea of playing for Barcelona, Mundo Deportivo's credible Ferran Martinez (5 stars) reports. In fact, we are the only club he would leave Manchester City for. The midfielder's agent, Jorge Mendes, has explained to him that he might have to wait until late August to join the Catalans. The 27-year-old understands that his transfer depends on Frenkie de Jong leaving, and he is willing to wait even until the last day of the transfer market. The parties have already discussed personal terms and it won't be difficult for Barca to find an agreement with the player. Man City meanwhile, are ready to sell Bernardo for €80m plus add-ons. As long as the price tag is met, they will not impede the move.

Alex Ferguson 'handed new role at Manchester United

Image
Sir Alex Ferguson 'handed new role at Manchester United Manchester United's legendary former head coach Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly been given a new role at the club by chief executive Richard Arnold. Ferguson was famously in charge of the Red Devils between 1986 and 2013, leading the club to 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cup crowns and two Champions League trophies. The Scot has remained on the club's board as a non-executive director since departing in 2013, but according to the Daily Mail, he has now been given a more influential role. The report claims that Ferguson is part of a 'think-tank' that has been set up by Arnold, with former CEO David Gill, ex-captain Bryan Robson and current football director John Murtough also involved. The five individuals will allegedly have 'regular meetings', with Arnold desperate to use Ferguson's experience and knowledge of the club to help move them forward during a transitional period. Gill was also a k...

Chelsea's Timo Werner 'agrees 50% pay cut to return to RB Leipzig

Image
Chelsea's Timo Werner 'agrees 50% pay cut to return to RB Leipzig Chelsea striker Timo Werner has supposedly agreed to slash his salary by a whopping 50% in order to seal a return to RB Leipzig this summer. The Germany international only found the back of the net four times in the Premier League last season and has struggled for consistency at Stamford Bridge since his 2020 arrival. Werner boasts a respectable 23 goals and 21 assists from 89 appearances in a Chelsea shirt, but he has not been able to regain the form he displayed in his native Germany. As a result, Werner has been one of several Chelsea attackers linked with a summer exit from the club, but his contract still has another three years left to run. There have also been claims that Blues boss Thomas Tuchel could block the 26-year-old from leaving, having already sanctioned Romelu Lukaku's loan departure to Inter Milan. However, German outlet BILD reports that Werner is willing to take drastic measures to force...

Barcelona sell first ever NFT for over half a million dollars

Image
Barcelona are not averse to extra revenue streams currently and appear to have found one. The club’s first official Non-Fundgible Token (NFT) was sold last night at a Sotheby’s auction, bringing in €678k, as per ESPN. The NFT was a 40 second animation of Johan Cruyff’s iconic flying goal against Atletico Madrid in 1973 accompanied by an orchestra, which apparently took over 10,000 hours to make. In addition, the buyer will be privy to a number of additional benefits, which would come at considerable value.  The ‘digital ambassador’, as it has been termed, will be able to; visit La Masia, attend meet and greet events, have hospitality at Camp Nou for a minimum of five years, have the opportunity to play at Camp Nou and also the chance to hand over the ball to the players before a friendly match. While it’s unlikely that information would ever become public, it would be interesting to know what the value of that package would have been without the NFT. Ironically, the club also terme...

Image

Most of these goals came in the 2012/13 season when the Pole played for Borussia Dortmund, however. Lewandowski will have to cope with David Alaba, Eder Militao and Antonio Rudiger this time! There will be no easy walks in Clasicos for the 33-year-old. Source: ESPN

'Bruno no longer has the creative burden': United fans applaud Eriksen after Atleti game

The Red Devils new signing Christian Eriksen came off the bench in the 69th minute and had a standout game, showing his playmaking skills. Here is how United fans on Twitter reacted to the Dane's showing. Hesham Bilal-Hafiz: "Eriksen looked brilliant in that cameo, excited to see him play for us regularly this year. Gutted Elanga and Maguire couldn’t convert his passes. "Bruno no longer has the creative burden. Atletico trying to injure our players and play dirty in a friendly game was awful to see." Aidan Walsh: "Christian Eriksen is going to be a special player for us this season -- top quality footballer" United Peoples TV: "Eriksen has made me remember how starved we've been of a passer with that combination of quality and consistency. Baller." Mark Goldbridge: "You can see already Eriksen is going to walk straight into thi...

Chelsea interested in De Jong on one condition

Image
Chelsea could make a move on Frenkie de Jong if N'Golo Kante doesn't extend his contract, Sport Bild's Christian Falk reports. The Frenchman's current deal runs until 2023. Bayern Munich, on the other hand, are not interested in the Barcelona midfielder. The Catalans will look to offload Frenkie this summer. The main issue is De Jong's ginormous salary, but Barca also need to make sales to be able to register the new signings. There is an agreement in place with Manchester United, but the Dutchman is not interested in the move. If he has to leave, De Jong would reportedly prefer a move to a Champions League team, and Chelsea is one of those. Source: Christian Falk

'Gives us a different forward profile': Fan tweets on Broja go viral after performance against Udinese

Image
Armando Broja started up front for Chelsea as they beat Udinese 2-0. While he did not score, the striker was active in the final third and his movement saw him getting a couple of good goalscoring chances. Chelsea fan Vince's tweet on the striker went semi-viral - here's what he wrote: If Broja had full pre-season he would've scored 3 goals in the first half but the important thing here is that he's doing what I expect a CF to do, hold-up play, making runs in the channels, and making himself available for final balls. Once he's fit and sharp, he'll come good. — Vince™ (@Blue_Footy) July 30, 2022 He then added: I can't believe people are having a go at Broja after a few training sessions and first pre-season 45 minutes. Apply context and be objective. Missing a tap-in doesn't define him as a player or make him a poor finisher. It can happen to anyone, especially someone that's rusty. — Vince™ (@Blue_Footy) July 30, 2022 Another fan replied: "Ye...

Napoli 'close' to agreeing on loan deal for Kepa, Chelsea will pay 75% of keeper's salary

Image
As per the reliable reporter Di Marzio, whose claim has been backed up by Fabrizio Romano, Napoli are 'close' to agreeing on a loan deal to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga. The keeper wants to move away for regular playing time and he is Napoli's top target at that position. The 'contacts between the parties are alive', Di Marzio adds. There's an agreement in place for the wages. Chelsea are expected to cover almost 75% of the keeper's salary. Kepa is reportedly earning £155,000 per week, so Chelsea will still pay him around £116,000 per week to him if the loan goes through. The deal will be finalised once the bonuses part is agreed. Chelsea want a bonus of £1.25m for the loan and the clubs are discussing the final fee. Source: Di Marzio

3 wins, 2 losses: Summary of Chelsea's pre-season

Image
Chelsea's pre-season is now over with the Blues set to take on Everton at Goodison Park on August 6. Chelsea played five friendlies, with three in the United States of America and two in Italy. Let's take a look at those games in order. 1) Chelsea 2-1 Club America A routine win for Chelsea as they dominated Club America for the most part, having 19 shot attempts with eight on target. Reece James scored an unfortunate own goal but aside from that, it was smooth sailing for the Blues. 2) Chelsea 1-1 Charlotte, Charlotte win on penalties This was a closer game than expected as Charlotte managed to have 46% possession and were clinical in front of goal, scoring one goal out of three shots on target. Chelsea then lost their third penalty shootout in a row since last season as the bad luck on that front continued. 3) Chelsea 0-4 Arsenal A terrible performance from the Blues as Arsenal utterly dominated every part of the game. Chelsea had just one shot on target with the Gunners havin...
