4 possible shirt numbers Liverpool can offer to Luis Diaz

So, which shirt numbers are available to the likely newcomer? Here are some of them. No.16 - not the luckiest short for the Reds, the last Liverpool player who can claim to be successful while wearing it was Dietmar Hamann. No.19 - Ozan Kabak wore this shirt last season but crucially, this was also Sadio Mane's first shirt number at Liverpool. No.23 - Xherdan Shaqiri wore it last season. No.25 - the last man to wear it was Pepe Reina in the 2012/13 campaign. Source: Transfermarkt

Lionel Messi's widely-publicised move to Paris Saint-Germain is clearly not going according to plan for everyone involved. Middlesbrough fans reminded of Adama and Braithwaite playing together at Boro in 2017

Image
Apparently, Adama Traore and Martin Braithwaite played together for English Championship side Middlesbrough between 2017 and 2018. A fan @MattClark_08 on Twitter has reminded Boro fans of two of their ex-players now donning for the mighty Barcelona. "If you had told Middlesbrough fans in 2017/18 that both Martin Braithwaite and Adama TraorƩ would both be playing together for BarƧa in about four years, you would have got some very strange looks," Matthew Clark tweets. Well, for the players it's a step-up for their careers, but we can't really say the same for Barca. Middlesbrough are still playing in the second division in England (Championship). Source: Twitter

One condition why Marcelo could still play in Copa del Rey after 3-game ban

Image
Marcelo told the referee "you're very bad" after receiving a red card in Real Madrid's 2-1 Copa del Rey win against Elche. Thus, the Brazilian will serve two additional games for insulting the ref, plus his one-game ban. The ref made all sorts of blunders on the day, including booking Toni Kroos for a tackle that never happened. However, the good news for our captain is that he can still play in the Copa del Rey if Real Madrid reaches the final. This is because, Madrid will play 3 games before the final - a quarter-final and a 2-legged semi-final. Source: Marca

2 ways Ousmane Dembele's January departure will massively help Barca

Image
Ousmane Dembele is now prepared to depart from Barcelona in January, as per recent reports. That should come as good news for the Blaugrana more than anything else for two main reasons: 1. Barcelona earn money For Dembele to leave Barca this month, it means a club must pay the Blaugrana some fee to take him - be that PSG or Chelsea, we can only be careless. For a player whose contract expires in less than 6 months time, that sounds like a bargain. Barcelona has slapped a €20m price tag on Dembouz. But should be prepared to take less than that and run. 2. Barcelona saves money The departure of Philippe Coutinho (albeit on loan) means that Dembele is now Barca's highest earner, raking in a jaw-dropping €17.3m per year. It's shocking he even wants that money increased. Thus, with Dembele out the door, Barca gets to save that much money, which they could funnel into signing someone like Erling Haaland next summer.   Newcastle united fullback Kieran Trippier has revealed that Manchester United were keen on bringing him. Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier has spoken of missing a move to Manchester United last summer.  Trippier left Atletico Madrid for Newcastle earlier this January market. He told the Athletic: “After the Euros, there was a serious interest in me.  I should be more careful with my words because I don't want any more trouble, but Manchester United were interested in me.   "We had talks, but AtlĆ©tico wanted me to be paid the full release clause, which is a lot of money for a 30-year-old player, so I understand why Manchester United dropped the idea of signing me.  "There were options with other clubs, but now I don't care anymore." Newcastle And Everton Eye Thomas Muller Signing

English Clubs Newcastle United and Everton have been reported to be interested in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Thomas Muller.   The 33-year-old remains a pivotal part of the Bundesliga giant's success with nine goals and an incredible 20 assists this season.   Muller though has just one more year left on his contract after the current season.   BILD says the experienced Germany and Bayern Munich star is being sought after by both Newcastle and Everton.   Newcastle are hoping to strengthen more during the January transfer window and will be expected to spend big money this summer - especially if they maintain their Premier League status.   The Magpies have already boosted their survival hopes with the signings of Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid and Chris Wood from rivals Burnley. FIFA continue their push to change the World Cup format as they look to hold the tournament every two years instead of four. And Gianni Infantino believes that the innovation could have an unexpected humanitarian benefit for Africa and its people. The FIFA president said: "This topic is not about whether we want a World Cup every two years, but about what do we want to do for the future of football. If we think about rest of world and the vast majority of Europe, then we have to think about what football brings. "Football is about opportunity, about hope, about the national teams. We cannot say to the rest of world give us your money, but watch us on TV. We need to include them. "We need to find ways to include the whole world to give hope to Africans so that they don't need to cross the Mediterranean in order to find maybe a better life but, more probably, death in the sea. Cristiano Ronaldo has an extra reason to be motivated as Manchester United look to secure a top-4 finish. According to The Athletic, the Portuguese 'will face a 25 per cent pay cut' if the Red Devils fail to qualify for the Champions League. Cristiano's £385,000-per-week salary will dip to just £288,000-per-week, and he will therefore lose his stature as the highest-earning player at the club. The Red Devils are currently fourth in the Premier League table although sixth-placed Arsenal, who are just two points behind, have a game in hand (against Tottenham). Source: The Athletic
