Mason Mount Returns to Twitter Amid Manchester United Transfer Rumours

Image
Mason Mount has returned to Twitter after deleting his account in April. The Chelsea midfielder's return comes amid reports that he is set to join Manchester United in a £75 million deal. Mount's Twitter account was deleted on April 25, with the player citing "changes to the platform" as the reason for his decision. However, his account has now been restored. The timing of Mount's return to Twitter has led to speculation that he is preparing to announce his move to Manchester United. The Red Devils are reportedly set to hold a medical with Mount on Monday, and the deal could be completed in the coming days. Mount has been a key player for Chelsea since breaking into the first team in 2017. He has made over 150 appearances for the club, scoring 24 goals. He is also a regular for England, and he played in all seven of the Three Lions' games at Euro 2020. Mount's move to Manchester United would be a major coup for the club. Christian Pulisic agrees personal terms with AC Milan

Image
Christian Pulisic has agreed personal terms with AC Milan but the Serie A side are yet to strike a deal with Chelsea.  According to ESPN , Pulisic has agreed personal terms with Milan, but the Serie A giants are struggling to agree on a transfer fee with Chelsea.  Chelsea, knowing that Milan will be flush with cash from the €70 million (£60m/$76m) Sandro Tonali to Newcastle move, are seeking a figure in the region of €25m (£21m/$27m) for the American, whereas Milan want to talk them down from that figure.  Pulisic is also willing to take a massive pay cut to switch to Milan, according to the report. It's also reported that the winger is refusing all other options. It remains to be seen which club will blink first in this stalemate, Chelsea or Milan. Chelsea need to balance the books and therefore aren't in a position to make big demands. However, they know Milan will have cash once the Tonali deal is complete, and therefore recognise that the Italian side can affor...

Kondogbia seals Marseille move after three years at Atletico Madrid

Image
Atletico Madrid midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has completed a move to join Ligue 1 side Marseille. The Central African Republic international leaves Madrid after three years in the Spanish capital, and signs a new four-year contract in France. Kondogbia is Marseille’s first summer signing as he joins former Valencia coach Marcelino Garcia Toral, with the pair working to good effect together with Los Che. The 30-year-old’s departure has been predicted since the end of the 2022/23 season as part of a squad revamp for Diego Simeone. The fee brought in by Kondogbia will be reinvested in the squad by Simeone as he looks to remodel his midfield. Yannick Carrasco looks set to remain in Madrid, as Barcelona opt against activating is release clause, with Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg lined up as a possible replacement for Kondogbia. Simeone’s squad are back for preseason training in the coming days ahead of travelling to South Korea on a summer tour.

Man United tell David de Gea 'not to join' rivals as star set to become free agent

Image
David de Gea has reportedly been asked to not join another club by Manchester United. The 32-year-old goalkeeper saw his contract at Old Trafford expire on Friday, meaning he has now technically become a free agent, but United are still hoping he doesn’t find a new club. Despite previously agreeing a wage reduction from £375,000 a week to £200,000, the proposed terms were taken off the table by Erik ten Hag, leaving De Gea in the dark over his future. Ten Hag had been handed a £120million transfer budget before sales, but that has now halved after a £60million fee was agreed with Chelsea for Mason Mount. And according to The Sun, those budget restrictions are the reason that United are asking De Gea to not join another club in case Ten Hag opts to bring him back to the club if a new number one can’t be signed within their budget. There’s a real chance that United may come crawling back to De Gea with a new goalkeeper and striker still both priority signings – with a £60million re...

The French international is in the final year of his contract at the Camp Nou with Xavi keen to retain him in Catalonia on a renewed deal. Dembele’s representatives have been in talks with the La Blaugrana hierarchy to increase his stay at the La Liga champions. Both sides are positive of an agreement being secured in the coming weeks as Barcelona start preseason training next month. As per reports from Marca, there has been a significant positive step in the negotiations, with Dembele informing Barcelona he will not activate an exit clause in his current contract. The French international has an option to leave the club for €50m before the end of July, but he will not be listening to exit offers for other teams. Dembele played a key role in Barcelona’s league title win in 2023 with five goals and seven assists.

Sevilla 'transfer list entire squad' due to 'huge €90m debts'

Image
Sevilla have made their entire first team squad available on the transfer market due to financial issues ahead of next season, it has been reported. After a disappointing season in La Liga where the club flirted with relegation at times, the campaign ended on an immense high for Sevilla as the club secured their seventh Europa League title. They defeated Jose Mourinho's Roma on penalties back in May. However, a new report claims that the reality of the situation is a stark contrast to the hope and positivity they should be feeling, with alarming claims made over the state of the club's finances just weeks after the season concluded. According to Radio MARCA's Pedro Pablo Parrado , club president Pepe Castro informed Sevilla boss JosĆ© Luis Mendilibar that the club had fallen into €90million worth of debts. The report claims that, as a result, every single member of the Europa League-winning squad had been declared 'transferable' during the summer transfer window. T...

Liverpool 'trigger release clause to sign RB Leipzig star Dominik Szoboszlai'

Image
Liverpool have triggered the release clause to sign RB Leipzig star Dominik Szoboszlai, it has been reported. The Reds have been pursuing a deal to sign the 22-year-old over recent days. Despite The Athletic's David Ornstein reporting on Wednesday that a deal would appear to be 'very difficult' to do, the situation has progressed since. The player has a €70 million release clause, with Sky Germany's Philipp Hinze claiming the clause would automatically expire after June 30. Liverpool have been 'pushing ahead' to get the deal done, and according to Fabrizio Romano, they have taken another step closer. Liverpool 'trigger Szoboszlai release clause' Romano has reported that the Reds have indeed triggered the full €70 million release clause to sign the Hungary international, with personal terms also agreed between the player and Liverpool. He tweeted: "Dominik Szoboszlai to Liverpool, here we go! Understand RB Leipzig are now informed that Liverpool h...

FIFA ban OneLove captaincy armband from Women's World Cup

Image
FIFA have banned the use of the OneLove captaincy armband for the upcoming Women's World Cup, with several alternatives suggested. The event marks the ninth Women's World Cup and will be hosted in Australia and New Zealand. The first fixture commences between New Zealand and Norway in Auckland on August 20, with a local kick-off time of 5:30pm. It is a tournament that arrives just six months after the men's version was held in Qatar, which saw a large amount of controversy emerge regarding the OneLove armband, due to the attitudes towards the LGBTQ+ community in the country, which the armband aims to support. Ahead of the women's tournament beginning in just over a month, FIFA have now banned the use of the armband with teams possibly facing sanctions if they fail to comply with the rules throughout their fixtures. FIFA ban OneLove armband Eight alternative armbands have since been proposed, with each individual design highlighting and supporting a different social ca...

Pochettino left with £62m Chelsea transfer conundrum as agent denies agreement

Image
Marc Cucurella's agent has revealed that there is no agreement for him to move to Atletico Madrid as the Blues find themselves stacked at left-back. Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has seen his agent come out to deny transfer reports linking him with a move to Atletico Madrid. Kalidou Koulibaly came in before Cucurella and has been moved on already this window, finding himself a new home in the Saudi Pro League. Meanwhile, Kai Havertz's inconsistent three years has been ended with a £65million transfer to Arsenal. Such thoughts lead to Spanish papers reporting that Atletico Madrid were willing to pay £55million to make him part of Diego Simeone's set-up for next year. Cucurella's agent, Ɓlvaro Dominguez, has put an end to those rumours, though. Taking to Instagram, he wrote: "Fake news [cross emoji]" over the story. His continued injury issues have left Chelsea managers pondering over an effective way to deputise for him, though, and Cucurella will be hoping h...

Erling Haaland poses with the 'World Cup's sexiest fan' Ivana Knoll whilst holidaying in Ibiza

Image
Croatian model Ivana Knoll has made a name for herself posing at some of the biggest football matches of the season, but she got up close and personal with one of the sport's megastars whilst holidaying in Ibiza on Friday. The so-called 'World Cup's sexiest fan' shared a picture of her running with Manchester City's Treble-winning starlet Erling Haaland after the pair bumped into one another at the exclusive Playa Soleil beach club in Ibiza. Both Haaland and Knoll beamed as they struck a pose beachside, no doubt enjoying the sunshine at the recently-launched Balearic hotspot. But the Norwegian behemoth didn't give away much more - hiding most of his face behind a vast pair of white-framed sunglasses. The former Miss Croatia burst into the public eye as one of the most avid and eye-catching fans at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and saw her star rise again at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, as the model followed her national team devotedly through their campaign in Doha...

The league and union had been at odds for years over a contract, prompting the union to stage its own events opposite league seasons. OFFICIAL: Chelsea sign Nicolas Jackson for reported €37m from Villarreal

Image
Chelsea’s frenzied summer continues. They’ve just announced the arrival of Nicolas Jackson on the club’s official website . The striker has signed an impressive 8 year contract after an impressive debut season in La Liga ended with a flurry of goals. His talent is clear, and the fact that he had a €35m release clause made things even easier. Most reports say that Chelsea have paid a little more to spready their payments out a little. Jackson is a number 9, and whether or not he proves to be a success he is at the very least a striker for a squad which basically didn’t have any. Even if he scores just 10 league goals next season, that will be a success considering our recent form. Co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart had the following to say: “We are excited to welcome Nicolas to Chelsea. He is a young player with big potential, as he showcased for Villarreal last season.” Even our new manager Mauricio Pochettino had a chance to say something about his new ch...

Ruben Loftus-Cheek completes £15m move from Chelsea to AC Milan

Image
Ruben Loftus-Cheek has joined AC Milan from Chelsea in a deal worth a reported £15 million ($19m). Loftus-Cheek penned a four-year deal with the seven-time Champions League winners after 19 years - via two loan stints at Fulham and Crystal Palace - at Chelsea. Loftus-Cheek joined the club in 2004 as a youth prospect and made his first team debut in 2014. He looked set to leave the Blues after starting just 19 Premier League games last term and opted to join the Rossoneri in a deal The Athletic claims was worth £15m plus add-ons.  Loftus-Cheek joins fellow ex-Chelsea team-mate Fikayo Tomori at San Siro and will hope to rejuvenate his career in much the same way as Tomori did when he made the same move in 2021. The English midfielder will be hoping to become a mainstay in the Milan midfield and, given the long-term injury to Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali's impending move to Newcastle, Loftus-Cheek will likely be given the keys to the engine room.

French basketball star M'Baye joins Moscow CSKA

Image
French basketball player Amath M'Baye has joined CSKA Moscow / © AFP French basketball star Amath M'Baye has joined CSKA Moscow until mid 2024, the team announced Friday, a deal that bars him from the French national side over Moscow's intervention in Ukraine. France's basketball federation ruled after the Kremlin launched large-scale hostilities in Ukraine last year that players who join Russian or Belarusian teams will not be sanctioned to play for the national side. "Welcome to the red-and-blue family, Amath!", the Moscow-based team with historic links to the Russian military, wrote on Twitter. "I am excited to be part of such a legendary organisation, and discover a new league. Looking forward to getting to work!" M'Baye was cited as saying by the club. M'Baye, 33, is not the first French basketball player to join Russian teams since Moscow deployed its troops to Ukraine last February. Last September, Thomas Heurtel signed a contract wi...

FIFA reveals social justice armbands for women's World Cup

Image
The "OneLove" armband was outlawed by FIFA at the men's 2022 World Cup in Qatar / © AFP FIFA revealed eight different armbands highlighting social causes that sides will be able to wear at the women's World Cup as world football's governing body seeks to avoid a row that erupted at last year's men's World Cup. Captains from a number of European countries, including England and Germany, planned to wear a "OneLove" armband in rainbow colours in Qatar in support of LGBTQ rights. However, they abandoned that stance after being threatened with sporting sanctions just days before the tournament kicked off. The armband had widely been viewed as a symbolic protest against laws in Qatar, where homosexuality is illegal. The "unite for inclusion" armband for the women's World Cup is similar in style to the one outlawed with the words alongside a heart shape in rainbow colours. Other causes highlighted include gender equality, ending violence...

FIFA has ordered Cardiff to pay Sala fee, say Nantes

Image
Nantes' Argentinian forward Emiliano Sala during a French league match against Montpellier on January 8, 2019 / © AFP FIFA have ordered Cardiff to pay Nantes the balance of the fee for Emiliano Sala, who died in a plane crash before he could play for the Welsh side, the French club's lawyers said on Friday. The lawyers said FIFA's Football Tribunal had ruled that Cardiff "must pay" just over 11 million euros (12 million dollars, 9.45 million pounds) corresponding to the last two instalments of the 17m-euro fee agreed between the two clubs. Cardiff will also have to pay interest on the fee and 25,000 dollars in procedural costs, according to the decision, obtained by AFP. Sala, a 28-year-old Argentine striker, died when the light aircraft taking him to the Welsh capital came down in the Channel on January 21, 2019, two days after he had signed for the then Premier League side. "FC Nantes is delighted with this latest victory before FIFA. The club's right...

Some of the 15 players who asked not to be selected for the national team in a protest against the Spanish football federation changed their stance, with Barcelona trio Aitana Bonmati, Mariona Caldentey and Ona Batlle selected. Their club team-mates Patri Guijarro, Mapi Leon and Sandra Panos, three experienced, world-class players, are among the former regulars who will not participate. Vilda cut six players from the long-list he named earlier in June, along with the injured Atletico defender Sheila Garcia, including her team-mate Marta Cardona. "It was the most difficult list to make because of how hard the players made it...

Man City chief breaks silence on Declan Rice decision after transfer refusal

Image
Man City made a play to snap up Rice this summer as they tabled an offer worth up to £90 million. But their proposal was rejected by the Hammers, who have since succumbed to Arsenal's pursuit. However Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano has broken his silence on missing out on signing Declan Rice after pulling out of the deal to sign the West Ham United star. Speaking at the announcement of a new sponsorship deal with cryptocurrency behemoths OKX, he said: "If you look at what we did at the start of this project, there was a need for a lot of changes and investment - but not anymore. If you look at what we have done in the last five years, our level of investment in new players is well thought out. "We are not the top net-spenders of last year or the last three or five years," he continued. "We have a platform where we know what to do and we can do it with time and intelligence. When we don't like a deal, we walk away and we don't panic....

Chelsea willing to raise Caicedo transfer offer to £80m

Image
Chelsea are reportedly ready to raise their offer for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo to around the £80 million ($101m) mark. The Ecuador international was heavily linked with the Blues during the January window, before signing a new contract with the Seagulls, and has seen a £60m ($76m) approach from Stamford Bridge for his services knocked back. Chelsea are in a position to spend again under Todd Boehly as they are set to raise around £200m ($253m) from sales – with the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount moving on. Standard Sport claims that some of those funds will be invested in Caicedo. The highly-rated 21-year-old has proven himself in the Premier League and still has plenty of potential to unlock in his game. Arsenal have previously expressed interest in Caicedo, but they are in the process of tying up a club-record £105m ($133m) move for West Ham captain Declan Rice. Caicedo is not the only midfielder that Chelsea have their sights on as after bid...

Chalobah Reacts to Mount's Man Utd Move

Image
Chelsea defender Trevor Chalobah looks to have made his feelings clear on Mason Mount's move to Manchester United. Mount is set to sign a five-year deal at Old Trafford, with an option of a further year after failing to reach an agreement over a new contract with the Blues. It is thought he will earn more than triple his current wage at Stamford Bridge, which is reported to be worth £80,000-per-week. However, the boyhood Chelsea fan will leave with a heavy heart, having been at the club since the age of six. And Trevor Chalobah is among those he will leave behind, with the 23-year-old defender taking to social media to seemingly share his sadness. After the Blues finally accepted a third offer from United for Mount on Thursday, Chalobah tweeted: "My boy" along with a crying emoji and a broken heart symbol. My boy šŸ˜¢šŸ’” — Trevoh Chalobah (@TrevohChalobah) June 29, 2023  The dispirited tone of his message is no surprise given the close relationship they have shared since c...

Mount, 24, is set to sign a five-year deal, with the option of a further year, with United if he passes his medical. Mount is set for a huge pay increase at Old Trafford, with some reports claiming he could earn as much as £300,000 a week included bonuses – compared to his reported £80,000-per-week contract at Chelsea. According to the Daily Telegraph journalist Matt Law has now confirmed that United have 'scheduled a medical for Mount on Monday', which is expected to take place at the club's training base, Carrington. It will take place once Mount has returned from his summer holiday. Mount has opted to leave his boyhood club Chelsea after turning down the offer of a new deal at Stamford Bridge, with the midfielder unhappy with the terms offered.

Man City accused over £30m 'sponsorship' payment

Image
A new documentary covering the details behind Manchester City's 115 alleged breaches of FFP law accuses the club of using a 'mystery broker' to funnel sponsorship money. UEFA launched an investigation into City's sponsorship dealings in 2018 after German website Der Spiegel alleged the club had used fraudulent means to circumvent FFP rules. The allegations related to £30million worth of 'sponsorship' payments between 2012 and 2013, which were said to have been invoiced to Abu Dhabi telecoms firm Etisalat. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled in 2020 the payments had in fact come from Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG), the investment group led by City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. However, UEFA was prevented from acting on certain findings after passing the five-year threshold for such charges. But The Times has reported the Premier League could still punish the Blues, with the 2012 and 2013 payments expected to form part of the 115 FFP charge...

Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy allegedly claimed to have slept with 10,000 women

Image
Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy raped a young woman then told her "it's fine, I've had sex with 10,000 women", a jury has heard. Mendy, 28, is accused of attacking the woman, aged 24 at the time, at his £4 million mansion in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire, in October 2020. He is also on trial at Chester Crown Court accused of the attempted rape of another woman, aged 29 at the time, who said he also attacked her at his home two years before. Mendy denies both allegations. The jury of six women and six men have been told by trial Judge Stephen Everett, the Recorder of Chester, that the French international footballer was found not guilty of sexual offences alleged by other women after a trial that ended in January this year. He told jurors that the jury last time could not reach verdicts on the two charges they are hearing, that of rape and attempted rape, hence his re-trial on those two charges. The judge warned them not to look up details of the past trial o...

Tottenham star Son Heung-min becomes one year younger after law change in native South Korea

Image
Tottenham star Son Heung-min has become a year younger thanks to an unusual ruling in his home country - and it might've boosted his transfer value. Tottenham hero Son Heung-min might have just seen his transfer value boosted - after becoming a year younger overnight thanks to South Korean law. Son, who is 30 according to the international ageing system, had been considered a year older in his native country due to an unorthodox method of age recognition. President Yoon Suk Yeol passed a law last year that would abolish the previous ruling of children being assigned the age of one at birth - and the age of two as soon at there was a change in year. That would mean that a baby born in late December would be considered as a two-year old despite only being alive for a matter of days before. The change was brought it to stop the confusion that surrounded the method of ageing, which had dated back centuries. Son, who has scored 145 goals for Spurs and won the Premier League golden boot ...

football fan once walked into his own minute's silence after PR blunder

Image
Interrupting a minute's silence is usually a big no-no - except when it's being held for you. One football fan bizarrely walked into his own back on February 27, 1993. Fred Cope was Congleton Town's oldest supporter at the age of 85. Shortly before the non-league side were set to take on Rossendale United, news spread of Fred's supposed passing. With little time until kick-off, then-programme editor Chris Phillips scrambled to arrange an appropriate response. A quoted by The Independent, he said: "The secretary informed me that Fred had died. So I wrote off an obituary, stapled it into the programme and informed the referee that we needed a minute's silence." As the players made their way out on to the pitch pre-match, Mr Phillips was given the shock of his life when Fred came walking through the gate alive and well. "I had to announce on the tannoy that the minute's silence would be to honour Bobby Moore," he added, with the England legen...
