Ronaldo finds out individual who prevented his return to Real Madrid despite Perez’s approval

Image
Former Real Madrid forward, Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly found out who prevented his return to Santiago Bernabeu despite the club’s president Florentino Perez’s approval. According to El Nacional, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti was the reason behind Ronaldo’s return to Los Blancos not materializing on two occasions in the recent past. Ronaldo left the Spanish La Liga champions back in 2018 as the club’s all-time record goalscorer with 450 goals in 438 matches to join Juventus. During Ronaldo’s time in Spain, Real Madrid won three back-to-back UEFA Champions League trophies before his departure. However, the Portugal captain eventually left Juventus in 2021 to re-joined Man United for a second spell. After his relationship with Man United broke in 2022, Ronaldo wanted a return to Real Madrid and his then agent Jorge Mendes tried to make it happen, but Ancelotti reportedly denied the dream move.0

Cristiano Ronaldo's issues with Man United training facilities were known by the club back in 2015

Image
Cristiano Ronaldo’s scathing criticism over Manchester United’s lack of “evolution at the club” and dated training facilities have been backed up by a former Red Devils player. The 38-year-old Portuguese forward pulled no punches towards the Premier League club during his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV last November. Ronaldo, who returned to Old Trafford in 2022 after his spell with Juventus, ruthlessly slammed the likes of Erik ten Hag, the Glazer family and Ralf Rangnick. The Al Nassr superstar also spotlighted what he believed to be a lack of development at the club since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013. Speaking to Morgan, Ronaldo said: “Nothing changed, surprisingly. Not only the pool, the jacuzzi, even the gym. Even the kitchen, the chefs, whom I appreciate -- lovely people. They stopped in time. It surprised me a lot. “I thought I would see other things, technologies and infrastructure. Unfortunately, we see a lot of what I used to see at 21, 22 and...

Paul Scholes compares Alejandro Garnacho to a ‘young Cristiano Ronaldo’

Image
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has detailed why Alejandro Garnacho reminds him of a young Cristiano Ronaldo and what he needs to do to improve. It has been a year to remember for the Argentine forward, who has made 31 appearances for Erik ten Hag's side in all competitions this season. And after scoring important goals against Real Sociedad, Fulham and Leeds, the teenager has reportedly reached an 'agreement in principle' to sign a new five-year deal with the Premier League club. Garnacho's influence has been there for all to see, especially from off the bench, where he often makes a real impact when given the chance to shine. He has been praised by many of late. Earlier this month, former United striker Robin van Persie labelled the 18-year-old a 'very talented' player for the way he handles pressure. And now, one of the club's all-time greats says Garnacho reminds him of a younger version of a certain Cristiano Ronaldo. Speaking to YouTube channel...

Chelsea set to 'block' a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang return to Barcelona following social media antics

Image
Chelsea will reportedly block a return to Barcelona for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer despite looking to offload the Gabon international less than a year on from signing the 33-year-old from La Blaugrana. The former Arsenal captain has endured a torrid spell upon his return to London, making just 18 appearances across all competitions for the Blues, in which he has scored on just three occasions. Additionally, Chelsea boss Graham Potter excluded Aubameyang from his squad for the Champions League knockout stages with the Gabonese striker yet to start in the Premier League since the World Cup-enforced break. Admittedly, the ex-Arsenal favourite has been unlucky following his move to Stamford Bridge, having chosen to join the Blues in order to reunite with former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel, who was subsequently sacked just days after the 33-year-old's arrival. However, Aubameyang hasn't helped his predicament, reportedly infuriating his current emplo...

Barcelona plan to play Lionel Messi in new position if Argentina legend makes stunning return

Image
Lionel Messi could find himself playing in an unfamiliar position if he is to make a stunning return to Barcelona. With his contract with Paris Saint Germain set to expire at the end of the current season, nothing has been agreed yet and Messi’s future at the club is currently up in the air. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has been in fine form this season having scored 18 goals and assisted 17 in 32 appearances across all competitions for PSG. As he continues to be linked with what will be an emotional return to Barcelona, he may find himself playing in a new position if he is to move back to the Camp Nou. According to Spanish new outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona boss and Messi’s former teammate Xavi could play him in midfield. It has been reported that Xavi would be interested in using Messi as one of four midfielders in his 4-3-3 system. This means the Argentine will likely take over from youngster Pablo Gavi as a false left winger who will move inside as an ‘interior’ when...

Abraham, 25, left Chelsea in 2021 to reunite with Jose Mourinho at Roma, with the Italian side paying £34m to sign the England international on a five-year deal. It immediately looked like a shrewd piece of business, with Abraham hitting the ground running in his first season in Italy. He scored 27 goals in all competitions and finished the campaign with silverware after Roma beat Feyenoord in the inaugural Europa Conference League final. Abraham has found his second season abroad a much sterner test, managing only seven goals in 38 appearances. But he retains the backing of Roma boss Mourinho, who played a key role in convincing the striker to move to Italy. Abraham reveals Mourinho phone call Speaking to FourFourTwo, Abraham has revealed he was keen to move to Arsenal in 2021 before he received a call from an unknown number, which turned out to be Mou...

The 48-year-old Sky Sports pundit, who spent 19 trophy-laden years at United between 1992 and 2011, enjoyed playing in a back four with some of the greats, including former Republic of Ireland international Irwin. After joining from Oldham Athletic in a deal worth £625,000, the reliable full-back made 368 appearances for the Reds during a 12-year period, where he lifted seven league titles, three FA Cups and a Champions League trophy. Irwin was ever-present throughout the 90's under Sir Alex Ferguson, who famously named him as the first player in his dream Manchester United XI, ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham and Wayne Rooney. Ask any United fan and they will wax lyrically over Irwin's consistency. In fact, former teammate Gary Neville said this week that he is the greatest full-back the Premier League...

In an interview with Shields Gazette, McTominay said: "You have to set high expectations for yourself,". "You can't just go into games hoping to do well. You must go in believing. "I spoke to the manager [Steve Clarke] and he said, 'I don't think you're playing with a smile on your face, and I want to see the smile come back out'. Chelsea Women through to Champions League semi-finals after beating holders Lyon on penalties

Image
Chelsea knocked out holders Lyon in a penalty shootout to reach the semifinals of the Women's Champions League after a thrilling second leg at Stamford Bridge on Thursday. Maren Mjelde's VAR-awarded penalty with the final kick of extra time cancelled out goals from Lyon's Vanessa Gilles and Sara DƤbritz to level the tie up at 2-2 and send the quarterfinal to spot kicks following Chelsea's 1-0 win in the first leg. Goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger was the hero for Chelsea in the shootout, saving from Wendie Renard and, finally, from Lindsey Horan to set up a semifinal clash with Barcelona. Lyon also saw two Gilles headed chances at corners go begging, while Bruun had another effort saved by Berger. Managing to ease the pressure and grow into the game as they did in the first leg, Chelsea began to carve out their own chances and ...
